The little garden

Easter

Easter is just behind us; the day after Easter is lovely and sunny ☀️. So I have decided to take more moments of rest during the day and during those rest moments to sit somewhere and just BE. That somewhere will often be my backyard, like today.

The chickens are grateful

It's quiet today. Not much noise around me. The chickens are grateful for the work I've done in the garden these past few days, and they can now run around again. That was no longer possible because I had recently freed the apple tree from a clematis, which had grown entirely into it. This is, of course, very visible in the winter months. Because it is such a beautiful spring bloomer, I have not pruned it but removed it from the apple tree and placed it on the trim hedges. It results in a white flower oasis that flows into the garden along the pergola. Beautiful.

The small paths were no longer accessible after this action, not even for the chickens. That was restored last weekend. So the chickens scurry around and dig in the available spots for tasty snacks. The ladies are a bit humorous, the eggs are almost coming again, so they have to eat well. The need some extra proteins ;-).

Chickens and children

The behavior of the chickens is a bit like the behavior of children. They are discovering their way. And sometimes, they do what I not have intended to do. But it is okay!! I love to have chickens in my garden, so if something is not working, I change it for the better. It is the same with children.

Sometimes you must change a good idea so it also works for the children. Let them PLAY!

Other living creatures

During the moment of rest for myself, a male blackbird sat opposite me on a low hedge. He sat there for about twenty minutes, just chilling. His eyes are closed now, and then, he has his way. A little later, another little bird comes out of the sea of flowers, a robin. She hops from one spot to another in my garden. And the chickens roam freely.

A wonderful garden moment for myself and the animals that also live here. See you all again soon.
